Research Services

Research Rates for Members.  If you are a member of the Society you will get a discount for Research done by our Volunteers.  See the form for the Fee Schedule.

A volunteer genealogy researcher is available to do basic Santa Clara County research. Fees vary according to the extent of the research. Our current fees are listed on our Research Request Form, which should be printed and mailed to us. This form is in PDF format and requires Adobe Reader which is available free from Adobe.

If you do not have the ability to read the PDF file or you are having problems reading the form  it is also available in a text format.

Please keep in mind that this research is done by volunteers, and our expected response time is 60-90 days, depending on demand and on the availability of volunteers.  If you need more research than what can be provided by our volunteers you may want to hire a professional researcher.  The Board of Certified Genealogist and The Association of Professional Genealogist  has a list of current researchers that specialize in California research.

Consultants

SCCHGS volunteers staff the Genealogy Room at the Santa Clara City Library daily, usually from 1-3 pm; also 7-9 pm as volunteers are available. Consultants introduce patrons to the collection and assist them with their research problems.
