When we write, the gaps in our family history knowledge often jump right off the page at us. This session will teach you how to use a variety of writing techniques that will analyze, advance and perhaps even move aside some roadblocks. In addition to discussing the reasons we should write, we will review what scenarios are the best ones to apply when writing as well as sharing writing techniques. A case study will be used to highlight the methodologies.

Dr. Joyce is a genealogy researcher whose personal work has focused on Ohio, Pennsylvania, England, and Norway. She began researching in 1998 to understand genealogy customers when she managed the marketing initiatives at Genealogy.com. Before beginning her genealogy career, she earned a B.S. in Business Marketing from Miami University, an MBA in Marketing from The Ohio State University, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Golden Gate University. She recently earned her Certified Genealogist accreditation from the Board for Certification of Genealogists. She enjoys teaching genealogy as well as writing research articles.
